Cristina Tejeda
As mentioned in a previous page, Cristina Tejeda is a Rotary Volunteer from District 5340. Her husband is a member of the Oceanside Rotary Club. Spouses of Rotarians qualify to get a grant with the Rotary Volunteer (Individual Grant) program. She is staying in McLoad Ganj near the Namgyal Monastery, very close to where I was last year. She is teaching English at the Dogga School. The school is run by Rinchen Tsering, and when I saw him I realized I had already met him last year, and he remembered me and the stories that I had published on this website! I offered to help Rinchen to update the Dogga Center website. I will spend a couple of days in his computer center to do the update. This is on the top of a building with a stunning view on the mountains. I worked on the balcony with my laptop. It was a little cold, but this is one of the most amazing settings I ever had working with my laptop.

But let's go back to Cristina. She is staying in the apartment of the Dalai Lama's tailor master, who is currently traveling in San Diego! She is mostly giving some private English lessons to students of the Dogga Center. Most of them are Tibetans. One of them (right with Cristina) escaped from a prison in China, and received political asylum in India. Cristina is hosted by the Dharamsala Rotary Club like me. She is attending the weekly meetings, and worked all day as a volunteer at the Polio Camp.
