Vocational Training Team to Uganda
December 15, 2010 to January 15, 2011
Uganda
|
One of the Vocational Training Team exchange we are doing this year is with District 9200 in East Africa. This is linked to the "Adopt-A-Village" project in Uganda, listed as project G-1 on the Global Grants Website. We will implement a series of projects at the same location, for multiple areas of focus: Water and Sanitation, Education, Health, Microcredit, and Economic Development. This will make a big impact at the village, and help them to get out of poverty. As part of this project, we will send a team of 7 professionals to the village, to help with the project implementation, and provide them with some training so that the project becomes sustainable, and will have a much bigger outcome. Four of the team members will be focusing on health, and the other three on community development.
Click here to see the biographies of the team members. The team will be traveling to Uganda from December 15, 2010 to January 15, 2011. The financing for the project is provided by 7 different clubs district 5340, with additional funds from our district, the host club and district in Uganda, and matching funds from The Rotary Foundation. The total project budget is $114,500. There will be a reciprocal team traveling from East Africa to San Diego from May 28 to June 23, 2011, and they will receive some training on water and irrigation in the Imperial Valley. Click here to see more details on the presentation that was made at the Foundation Seminar in Fallbrook on October 23. We are also organizing a follow-up trip in April 2011 for Rotarians to visit the village, attend their district Conference in Kampala, and go on a Safari.
